Samsung Italy Confirmed Galaxy S II, Note and Dual-core Tablets Getting Android 4.0 Update

Apparently, we must drool about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Nexus in our dreams, and even the razor thin construction of the Motorola DROID RAZR, since both of them are the poster child of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It comes as no surprise that there are a lot of people out there who are probably slamming their heads against the wall for picking up a top-notch Android smart phone right now.
Fortunately, there might be some good news headed their way. Samsung Italy has gone ahead and confirmed that their high end devices (those packing a dual-core processor) will all be getting bumped up to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Namely, the list of products which will be getting Android 4.0 update that will be blessed with the latest version of Android includes: Samsung Galaxy S II , Samsung Galaxy Note , Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 , Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 , Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 , as well as Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. But no word on the exact release date/s of the ICS for the mentioned Samsung devices. And if you’re a United States Samsung Galaxy S II customers, you still need to wait (more months) because OS upgrades in United States are controlled by wireless carriers.
The Samsung Galaxy S II or S2 is currently running Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 (global) or 2.3.4 and 2.3.5 in United States. Meanwhile, it is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core Exynos processor (1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor for T-Mobile USA), 1GB of RAM, Android Gingerbread 2.3 out of the box, 8-megapixel primary camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus with 480 x 800 resolution. While Samsung Galaxy Note, the new tab phone from Samsung Electronics, is pre-installed with Android Gingerbread 2.3.5. And it sports 5.3-inch Super AMOLED screen with 800 x 1280 resolution or 285 ppi (pixel density), 1.4GHz dual-core Exynos processor, 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel primary camera with 1080p video support at 30fps, 2-megapixel front facing camera, and Android Gingerbread 2.3.5 pre-installed.
Now it is important to note that the Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4.0 update will likely refer to the unlocked version however carrier specific models should also be getting it but at a slightly later date. Besides, we would hope to see phones with a fast single-core processor (1.4 GHz) on the list, which is like the Galaxy W or T-Mobile Exhibit II, but I maintain Samsung is still evaluating that option.
We promise to follow the ICS updates and let you know as soon as possible.
