17 Sep 11 BlackBerry PlayBook Price Cuts Down to $249

The mobile platform has undergone a huge change in recent years. Mobile platforms such as Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android have cornered the world market. This has made it hard for other competitors to sell their products. As a Canadian telecommunication and wireless device company, RIM is best known as the developer of the  BlackBerry smart phone. However, the company is now in a rather tough situation. The blooming of Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android has made RIM lose its market share quickly.

Still remember the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet? It is equipped with a lot of excellent features, such as a 1GHz Dual-core processor, a battery life up to 8 hours and a 7-inch screen with 1024×600 pixels. To be mentioned, the tab only weighs 0.9 pounds. And there are lots of positive reviews about the tab. We all suppose it will be a smashing success. However, it fails to impress customers and is seen lackluster sales.

Earlier, we mentioned that in order to boost the sales, RIM was pondering lowering down the price of BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. But we are not quite sure about the how much money they were going to cut. And today we have the news from BGR that the cheapest price of the device will be $249. This price tag is especially for the 16GB WiFi only model while price tags of other versions are still kept the same. As the price lowered down, more and more customer can afford the device and the sales number increases quickly.

We do hope that the new price tag bring success to the BlackBerry PlayBook. But at this moment it is still hard to say if it is a good idea for RIM to increase its sales by lowering down the price. We will just have to wait and see.
